The serialised version of the (detective) novel is first published in The Saturday Evening Post (US) in 1939 between May 20 and July 1: And Then There Were None.

In the UK, the short story is first published in Daily Express in 1939 between June 6 and July 1 under the same title.

First editions in book form:

1. Ten Little Niggers 1939 (British edition)
    Published in the US the following year under the title And Then There Were None.

1. Tio små negerpojkar 1940 (Bonniers detektivromaner)
    NOTE! A later edition is published under the title Och så var de bara en (2014).
