In the US, the short story is first published in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine in March 1943 Vol. 4. No. 2: Accident.

Alternative title:

The short story has also been published in The Creasey Mystery Magazine (UK) in October 1957 (Vol. 1, No. 14) under the title A Test for Murder.
