Original publication: The short story is first published in The Grand Magazine in October 1924 (Vol. 46, No. 236). In the US there is no publication prior to the one in the short story collection published in 1930.
Alternative title: The short story has also been published under the title Jealousy is the Devil in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine (US) in 1959 (Vol. 33, No. 5).
