ORIGINAL PUBLICATION:

The short story is first published in The Strand Magazine (UK) in November 1939 (Vol. 98, No. 587) as part No 1 of The Labours of Hercules: The Nemean Lion.

In the US, the short story is first published in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine in February 1947 (Vol. 5, No. 18) under the title The Nemean Lion, or The Case of the Kidnapped Pekinese.
NOTE! The specific number of the magazine is also published in an Overseas Edition for the Armed Forces.
