In the US the short story is first published in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine in 1947 (Vol. 9, No. 43).

Alternative version:

The short story also exists in an earlier authored version under the title The Man Who Knew.
However, this version was published much later in John Curran's Agatha Christie's Murder in the Making. Stories and Secrets from Her Archive 2011.
