In the US, the short story is first published in Detective Story Magazine on July 7 in 1928 (Vol. 102, No. 4) under the same title.

The short story has also been published in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine (US) in 1967 (Vol. 49, No. 6) under the title Ask and You Shall Receive.
